Gerald Ihnat passes away

Gerald "Jerry" Ihnat of Ahwatukee was born on Nov. 13, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio. He died April 24 after a long battle with cancer. Jerry graduated from Case Institute of Technology in 1957. He also studied for an MBA at Syracuse University. He spent more than 25 years working at Hallmark Electronics (now Avnet) and also worked for Debenham Electric Co. in Anchorage, Alaska.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Nancy; his children Laura Dawson (James) of Ahwatukee, Sharon of Gilbert and Brian (Terri) of Morrow, Ohio; grandchildren Eric and Danielle Dawson, Amanda and Lauren Ihnat, his sister Delores Fisher of Ahwatukee and brother-in-law Donald Haas of Parma, Ohio. Visitation was April 28 at Carr-Tenney Mortuary in Tempe. Funeral mass will be Friday, April 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 16223 S. 48th St. in Phoenix, with a reception following at the church. A private family interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
