Albert R. Manriquez, 78, passed away on July 3. He was the father-in-law of Ahwatukee resident and Tempe Union High School District Governing Board member Moses Sanchez.

Albert was born in Sonora, Ariz., on Dec. 23, 1934 to Severiano Manriquez and Manuela Ramirez. He graduated from Tucson High School. He was married to Judith Elaine Manriquez on June 8, 1963. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked as a diesel mechanic for Kennecott/ASARCO from 1960 to 1997.

Albert is survived by his sister, Molly Burns; children, Albert C. Manriquez, Patricia (Johnny) Felix, Maria Manriquez-Sanchez (Moses), Robert Manriquez (Lisbee); grandchildren, Bernadine (John), Elizabeth (Joel), Adam, Garrett, Shannon, Ylianna, Jacob, Liam, Bobby and JJ; and great grandchildren, Jocelyn, Norah and Caleb.

A vigil was on July 11 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Mortuary in Phoenix. Mass will be held today, July 12, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 E. Knox Road, in Ahwatukee. Burial will be in Tucson at Holy Hope Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
