Frances A. Sorensen passes away

Frances A. Sorensen (Fran), 90, of Ahwatukee, passed away peacefully on May 6 at the Hospice of the Valley-Dobson Home.

She was a firecracker and lived life to the fullest. She was born July 4, 1921 in Paw Paw, Ill., to Lee and Mabel Potts. She was one of seven children. She graduated from Dixon High School. After her marriage to Norman they lived in Evergreen Park, Ill., where they raised their family. Norman was employed by TWA Airlines so they traveled the world together. In 1983 they bought a home in Ahwatukee on the first green of the Ahwatukee Golf Course. She golfed in Ahwatukee and Pinewood until she was 85.

Fran was preceded in death by her mother, father, all six siblings, her husband Norman, and her son Larry Allen Sorensen. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Witzel, two granddaughters, Christine (John) MaDan, and Julie (Kraig) Acklam. Nannie loved all her great grandchildren. A “celebration of her life” will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12 at Mountain View Lutheran Church, 11002 S. 48th St. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mountain View Lutheran Church and/or Hospice of the Valley.
