Ted DuPlessis, 57, a long-time Ahwatukee resident, peacefully passed away at sunrise on April 23, with his family by his side. Ted fought a nine-month battle with stage IV esophageal cancer.

Born on Oct. 28, 1956, in Brockton, Massachusetts, to Lou and Jane DuPlessis, Ted was the eldest of five children.

His heart belonged on the West Coast where he met and wed his beloved wife, Lynn, and where they raised their three children, David (30), Nick (29), and Aubree (27).

When he wasn’t working hard for Hewlett-Packard, Ted was often found hiking along the South Mountain Trails with Lynn, road biking with his buddies, “getting into trouble” on some new adventure with his kids, or playing at the park with his grandson Alex (2).

An avid reader, Ted always sought ways to improve, learn, and grow and was a continual source of realistic and pointed advice and support for all who knew him.

Ted faced his diagnosis head on, with unflappable optimism, and a lively spirit that both comforted and encouraged those around him.

A celebration of Ted’s life will take place at sunset on Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Arizona Botanical Gardens.
