Phoenix Dance Cooperative’s Soul Shock Dance Company of Ahwatukee had outstanding showings at two recent dance competitions in the Valley.

Phoenix Dance Cooperative’s Soul Shock Company performed at Showbiz National Talent Competition and Prime Time Dance, both members of the Federation of Dance Competitions (FDC), and placed at the top of all category rankings, as well as winning numerous choreography, costume and entertainment awards.

The highlight of both shows was when Soul Shock routines won the high-point award at each competition in addition to the FDC’s “Judges Choice Award,” which is awarded to the judges pick for the most outstanding routine of a competition.

At Showbiz, the routine Fix You earned the title of ICON Award for scoring highest of all group dances of the competition. The Fix You team also was selected for the FDC Judge’s Choice Award.

At the Prime Time competition the routine Halo earned the title of PRESIDENT’S CUP Award for scoring highest of all group dances of the competition, as well as also being selected as the FDC Judge’s Choice Award.

The two recent Judge’s Choice Awards follow the receipt of the same Judge’s Choice Award from their first competition of the year for the routine Turn to Stone.

The third consecutive FDC Judges Choice Award is a tribute to the hard work and talent of all of the Phoenix Dance Cooperative dancers and the Soul Shock artistic director and choreographer team of Antoine Olds and Ambur Towns.

Located in Ahwatukee, at 12020 S. Warner-Elliot Loop, the studio has expanded and offers classes six days a week for ages 3 to adult.
