Kyrene Monte Vista Brownie Troop 313 got an early start on Halloween. Although they were dressed in costumes, the second-graders were not ringing doorbells for candy. The Brownie troop spent one hour in the afternoon "trick-or-treating for cans" throughout the Monte Vista neighborhood. The girls collected more than 100 non-perishable food items in addition to a few baby supplies from Ahwatukee Foothills residents and donated them to the Kyrene Family Resource Center, which serves local families. This outing was one of many service activities the troop has planned for the year to help the girls become more aware of how they can help make a difference in the lives of others.
