James Hutchins serves as a Den Chief for the Scorpions, a Webelos 2 Den at Cub Scout Pack 77, sponsored by St. John Bosco Interparish School in Ahwatukee Foothills. This year, the Pack awarded Hutchins the Den Chief Service Award for his work with the Cub Scouts.

Hutchins recently earned his Eagle Scout rank. As a result of his Eagle project, kindergarteners at Balsz Elementary School in Phoenix have a new garden, lots of reward items and a new shelving storage unit.

Hutchins is a member of Troop 697 at St. James Episcopal Church in Tempe led by Scoutmaster Mark Moorehead. He is the son of David and Heidi Hutchins and an eighth grader at Kyrene del Pueblo Middle School in Chandler.
