Ahwatukee resident Kari McCormick, business development manager, Native American Division for Kitchell Contractors, has been named economic developer of the year, Tribal Communities, by the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED).
McCormick chairs AAED’s Tribal Economic Development Committee (TEDC). This committee has emerged as one of the most vibrant and effective groups in AAED and established itself as a leader of Native American economic development issues throughout the region. During the past year, the TEDC toured San Carlos Apache, Yavapai-Apache and Hualapai communities where committee members were briefed by tribal council members on current and future economic development goals and objectives.
AAED presented its annual Economic Development Distinguished by Excellence (EDDE) awards during an evening awards dinner at the AAED Spring Conference in Sedona.
The prestigious EDDE awards honor individuals and companies who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the organization and also to the economic growth within the state of Arizona. Recipients are selected from a pool of nominations made by members of AAED.
