Mountain Pointe High School’s Science Olympian team has been named. There were 33 members who competed in the 2012 State competition at Glendale Community College with 43 other teams throughout the state. Below is a summary of MPHS results of the ribbons/metals awarded to individual in those events:
• Disease detectives — fourth place — Lauren McDonald and Jessica Zhu.
• Forensics — seventh place — Lauren McDonald and Jessica Zhu.
• Rocks and minerals — first place — Raphael D’Sa and Tim Chan.
• Water quality — fifth place — Meg Kilgore and Raphael D’Sa.
• Microbe mission — seventh place — Alex Stoken and Allen Wilburn.
Top 10th place:
• Protein modeling — 10th place — Amanda Nguyen.
• Forestry — 10th place — Faith Kidder and Emily Bert.
• Remote sensing — ninth place — Abhik Chowdhury and Vishal Mehta.
• Robert arm — eighth place — Ethan Gage.
• Technical problem solving — 10th place — Alex Nguyen.
