Temple Beth Sholom announces appointment of rabbi

Temple Beth Sholom of the East Valley announces the appointment of Rabbi Kenneth Leitner as the congregation’s new rabbi.

A native of California, Leitner was ordained in 1976, from Hebrew Union College, and has studied in both the United States and in Israel.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology, San Fernando Valley State College; M.A.H.L. from Hebrew Union College, Los Angeles, and he was the Sanders Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Talmud at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Leitner completed his post ordination doctoral work in the Talmud Department of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and holds an honorary doctorate from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America.

His prior congregations include Congregation Agudath Achim where he was rabbi for the past five years, Temple Beth Sholom of San Francisco and communities in New York and Pennsylvania.

Temple Beth Sholom of the East Valley, 3400 N. Dobson Road in Chandler, is a conservative congregation founded over 60 years ago.

The campus houses a sanctuary, social hall, religious school, Shalom Preschool, youth lounge, administrative offices and a Judaica shop.
