The Phoenix Public Transit Department announced the appointment of Jesús Sapien as deputy director for operations. In his new role, Sapien will oversee the city's more than $150 million in annual bus service programs.

Prior to his current role, Sapien served as acting deputy director, as well as the department's transit superintendent, managing the bulk of the city's bus operations. In addition, Sapien has worked for the City Manager's Office, Budget and Research Department, and for the Phoenix City Council. Sapien holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Masters in public administration from Arizona State University, and is an alumnus of the city's Management Intern Program.
