The Board of Directors at Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS announced that Carol Poore, Ph.D., who has served as president and chief executive officer since 2007, has given notice she will resign March 1, 2013 to pursue public-private community building projects and global research examining the importance of community networks to vibrant downtowns.
Southwest Center’s Board has engaged the executive search firm McCormack and Associates to begin a national search for a successor to Poore.
During her tenure as president and CEO, Poore grew Southwest Center’s service capacity, implemented a city of Phoenix bond project, and grew the agency’s funding base by raising more than $20 million in public and private funding during the economic downturn to create a community health center in downtown Phoenix.
She developed a strong management team capable of advancing program expansion in a downtown Phoenix facility now under renovation.
The center for health, education and wellness, to be named in honor of The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation will open in spring of 2013.
