Valley Christian High School’s Robotics Team, Valley X, brought home a first place finish at the Phoenix Area Competition at Red Mountain High School on Dec. 14, 2013. The team also earned the highest marks possible when judges awarded them the Inspire Award for embodying the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Tech Challenge program in all areas.

Teams involved in the FIRST Program use math, science and technology skills to build robots, which must be able to perform specific tasks that are part of a yearly challenge. For more information on FIRST Tech Challenge visit www.usfirst.org.

The team travelled to Tucson on Jan. 3 to compete in the Southern Arizona Qualifying Tournament at Palo Verde High School and has earned a spot at the State Championships in Flagstaff on Jan. 18.
