The Cougars of South Mountain Community College (SMCC) blew past the tournament field at the 2012 NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship May 26, en route to its third national team title in the past 10 years.

SMCC finished the four-round event at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind., with a team total of 1,163 (+11), which was 31 strokes in front of runner-up Tyler Texas Junior College’s score of 1,194 (+42).

All five Cougar golfers finished in the top 15, and all earned All-American honors. Jimmy Kozikowski led the way with a two-under-par performance (286), to finish second overall. Jake Argento finished one over par (289) to take third. Matt Record and Marley Sweeney finished in a tie for 10th place with 12-over 300 performances.

The SMCC men’s golf team previously won the National Division II championship in 2004 and 2010. Cougar coach Jake Harrington, himself a player on the 2004 championship team, was named National Division II Coach of the Year for the second time.
