Charles William Roloff, 97, of Phoenix passed away on March 6. He was born May 10, 1915, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Renee B. Roloff, on Nov. 17, 2004.

Charles is survived by daughters Diane Jean Laubmeier of Phoenix, Debra Ann Bruns of Cave Creek and Renee McLaughlin of Phoenix; son-in-law Andy Laubmeier of Phoenix; grandchildren Steven, Andrea, Jeff, Chris, Stephanie, Shawnda, Heather and Wyatt; great-grandchildren Emily, Haylie, AJ, Hailee, Kailyn, Caden, Camryn, Jasmine, Madison, Connor, Kellan, Grayson and Oliver. He is also survived by niece Cynthia McCaffrey and nephew Henry Roloff of New York.

Charles was a World War II Navy veteran (aviation machinist mate), New York City fireman (retired May of 1958) and former New York City policeman.

He was a life member of New York City Fire Fighters Association, a member of American Legion Post 64, participant in the Senior Olympics, and started the Veterans Club at the Ahwatukee Recreation Center.

Charles is also recognized for writing and presenting “Evolution of the American Flag.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services with honors will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 15 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road.

In addition, a “Celebration of Life” service will take place on Sunday, March 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ahwatukee Recreation Center, 5001 E. Cheyenne Drive.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of the Valley, 1015 E. Flower St., Phoenix, 85014 or the American Legion Post 64 Scholarship Fund in care of the Ahwatukee Recreation Center, 5001 E. Cheyenne Drive.
