Sgt. Anthony (T.J.) Misuraca Submitted photo

Sgt. Anthony ("T.J") Misuraca visited Mrs. Foster's third-grade class at Cerritos Leadership Academy in Ahwatukee last month to thank the students and to share information and photos from his four tours in Iraq.

Misuraca was shot on a rooftop in Iraq last August. The bullet entered his leg and damaged his leg and femur. He endured several surgeries and months of rehabilitation. While recuperating after one of his surgeries, he received a package of letters from the students in Mrs. Foster's class (his cousin Megan is a student in the class). The letters were touching with drawings and well wishes from the children.

Misuraca, who lives in Augusta, Ga., was here for a week-long visit. The students had an opportunity to ask him many questions about war, his injury and about the lifestyle of children in Iraq.
