Ahwatukee Foothills pre-kindergarten/kindergarten teacher from Triple R Childcare, Julie Fischer, recently read the book, "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" to her class. The book teaches children how to be kind and compassionate toward other people. They practiced "filling the buckets" of their classmates. Now, they are working on filling the buckets for people in their school and community. Their most recent project was to donate spare change to purchase Thanksgiving dinners for the homeless through the Phoenix Rescue Mission. They collected $150, which will provide 75 turkey dinners. More importantly, the children (ages 4 and 5) have become excited and enthusiastic about helping others. The class will be doing a "random acts of kindness" project in December for the community.
