Boy Scout Troop 17 recently enjoyed a weekend of fun times and camaraderie at Sunrise Ski Resort. This school year, Troop 17 has also backpacked to Fossil Creek and hiked Picacho Peak. The boys have been camping, fishing, rock wall climbing and been involved in multiple community service projects. The Boy Scouts decide which events they will do every year, and they are responsible for each outing’s planning, which builds great leadership skills for these future young men. Troop 17 has more fun outings planned for the remainder of the school year: a wilderness camp out, a biking camp out and a cooking competition camp out. The boys are also looking forward to Summer Camp at Camp Geronimo.

Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys, ages 11 through 17, designed to achieve the aims of Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the guidance of an adult Scoutmaster. Troop 17 meets weekly on Tuesdays, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Foothills Baptist Church, 15450 S. 21st St. For more information about Troop 17, visit or contact Lisa at (480) 650-5185.
