For the past three years, Peter Madrid has served as editor of Arizona Commercial Real Estate Magazine (AZRE), overseeing coverage and writing a majority of the editorial content both for print and online. A veteran journalist, Madrid spent more than 30 years in the newspaper industry as a sportswriter and sports editor.

He previously worked at the Kansas City Star, USA Today, the Tucson Citizen, and the Arizona Republic. Madrid was an original staff member of USA Today and was a member of the Kansas City Star/Times newsroom that won the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for Local Spot News Reporting. He served as an editor for Gannett News Service at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The Tucson Citizen consistently won Associated Press Sports Editors daily and special section national awards under his direction.

He is a graduate from the University of New Mexico, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Madrid will also be an adjunct professor this fall at Arizona State University’s Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
