Everest College Phoenix announced that Thomas Waite from Tempe has been appointed as provost and chief academic officer. Waite is a veteran educator and administrator with 24 years in management and will serve the institution’s online, Phoenix and Mesa campuses in his new capacity.
As provost and chief academic officer, Waite will work directly with the president of Everest College Phoenix to ensure that the institution’s programs and faculty continue to be of the highest quality. Key responsibilities will include establishing academic strategy and priorities, as well as the overseeing the development and implementation of program budgets and faculty personnel policies.
Waite’s experience includes nearly 10 years at DeVry University in Tempe, where he had a variety of senior administrative academic positions. As national associate dean of the College of Business and Management, Waite was directly responsible for the supervision, development, maintenance and evaluation of staff, faculty and student body, as well as each of the college’s 22 programs, courses and sections. He was credited with developing and implementing many significant systems and processes, as well as enrollment presentations to bring admissions and academics together, an important program that was later adopted nationwide.
Waite is completing his doctorate in higher education administration at Northcentral University in Arizona. He is a graduate of the University of Phoenix, where he earned his bachelor of science degree in business management in 2000 and his master of arts degree in organizational behavior in 2001.
