Maribeth Gallagher, dementia program director at Hospice of the Valley, has won two prestigious national honors. She was selected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and named Arizona’s top nurse by the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC).

Gallagher, a doctor of nursing practice, was chosen to represent Arizona as one of 50 home care and hospice nurses from each state in NAHC’s 2013 Nurse Recognition Program.

The selection committee also designated Gallagher as one of 10 finalists for NAHC’s Home Care and Hospice Nurse of the Year, to be announced Oct. 31 at the association’s annual meeting in Washington D.C. The winner will be determined by votes cast by association members and the public on NAHC’s website, Voting continues through Aug. 13.
