Joshua Brakensiek has been awarded $10,000 as a 2013 Davidson Fellow. Brakensiek’s mathematics project, “Bounds on the Size of Sound Monotone Switching Networks Accepting Permutation Sets of Directed Trees.” This research has potential applications in medicine, epidemiology, economics, and other fields that require complex data analysis.

The Davidson Fellows Scholarship program offers $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 college scholarships to students 18 or younger, who have created significant projects that have the potential to benefit society in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, literature, philosophy and music. Brakensiek was honored at a reception in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 28.
