Christina (del Castillo) Terry, a 2000 graduate of Mountain Pointe High School, recently received recognition as one of the Arizona Cardinals and University of Phoenix “MVP’s of the Classroom.”

The Arizona Cardinals and University of Phoenix “MVPs in the Classroom” award recognizes outstanding teachers in the state. The MVPs in the Classroom panel recognizes three teachers, serving grades K-12 and special education, at every Arizona Cardinals regular season home game. A total of 24 educators were selected out of a pool of nominations.

Terry teaches fifth grade at Charlotte Patterson Elementary School in Chandler. In December, representatives from the Cardinals surprised Terry by showing up at her school to present the award in front of the entire pod of fifth-grade students and many of the office staff, including Principal Kris Palbykin.

Terry received an Arizona Cardinals jersey, four tickets to a home game, four VIP sidelines passes, and a $500 gift card.
