Julia Shen, an Ahwatukee Foothills resident since 1993, was honored with the Most Creative Use of Materials Award at Abrakadoodle’s annual national conference May 4-6 at the national Harbor near Washington, D.C. Shen recognizes the value of colorful art materials and she won the award for the masterful use of Abrakadoodle’s Frame Doodles pieces in art projects, community events and business promotion.

From its beginnings in 2002 with 11 students at the McLean Community Center in Northern Virginia, Abrakadoodle has created a mosaic of creative art programs that has nearly reached 1,000,000 children worldwide.
