Former State Sen. David Schapira has been appointed assistant superintendent at the East Valley Institute of Technology in Mesa (EVIT).
In his new role, Schapira, who had been working as a consultant to EVIT’s adult education programs, will be assisting with the management of EVIT’s Dr. A. Keith Crandell (Main) campus, 1601 W. Main St., and East Campus, 6625 S. Power Road.
Schapira is the former Arizona Senate Minority Leader. He has represented Tempe and south Scottsdale in both the House and Senate over the last six years. A third-generation Arizonan who was born in West Mesa, Schapira has dedicated his life to serving his community as a high school teacher, an instructor at Arizona State University, a governing board member of the Tempe Union High School District, and a small business owner.
