Jozef Bagby, 14, of Ahwatukee recently received his Eagle Scout Award in a court of honor ceremony on March 16 at Esperanza Lutheran Church. Bagby began his scouting career as a Cub Scout Webelos in 2007. He earned his Arrow of Light before bridging into Boy Scout Troop 124, and eventually transferred to Troop 14 after moving to Ahwatukee.

For his Eagle project, Bagby decided to work with Liberty Wildlife, a nonprofit organization committed to nurturing the nature of Arizona through wildlife rehabilitation, natural history education and conservation services to the community. Their greatest need was site improvements for their recycling and newly acquired refuse containers.

Besides organizing the volunteers, Bagby requested donations of supplies, equipment, signage, and food/refreshments for the day’s project. His efforts were supported by community businesses making the necessary donations, valued at $2,811.04.

Bagby is a freshman and honor student at Desert Vista High School. He is active on the swim, cross country, and track teams. He also served on the Tempe Diversity Dialogue Committee and is involved during summers with the Phoenix aquatics program. Bagby is the son of Christopher and Corin Bagby.
