Ahwatukee Foothills resident Serenity Chavez, 5, has been selected as a state finalist in the National American Miss Arizona state pageant set for July 16 and 17 at the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort in Scottsdale.

The National American Miss pageants are for girls 4 to 18 in five age divisions, and Chavez will compete in the Princess 4 to 6 age division.
