On Feb. 4, Sen. John McComish (R - District 20) and his wife Karen visited Sonoran Science Academy-Ahwatukee (SSA) located at 14647 S. 50th St., Suite No. 125 in Phoenix.

The senator's visit began with an informal meeting with administration, staff, Student Council members, and the Parent Advisory Council (PAC). We discussed the importance of the Charter School model in Arizona's education system and how SSA fits this model by following it's mission of college preparation for students to achieve success in the high-tech community of the new millennium through a science and math instructional program that includes high educational standards, a liberal arts foundation and meets individual student needs to compete successfully in a global technological society upon graduation. Senator McComish's visit continued with a tour of the school, lead by the Student Council. Finally, Senator McComish addressed the administration, staff, Student Council members, the PAC, and other public attendees during a luncheon when he discussed Arizona Education Legislature and the state budget.
