The Valley of the Sun YMCA has announced that Patricia Leach is the new senior vice president and chief financial development officer for the association. With more than 30 years experience leading nonprofit organizations, Leach will oversee fundraising and continue to develop Valley and statewide support for the YMCA and its breadth of programs and services.

Leach comes to the Y after years as an integral leader and community supporter of the American Heart Association. From her earliest involvement with the organization, Leach created the concept for and carried out the implementation of the country’s first cardiovascular education facility, now known as the Halle Heart Children’s Museum.

Leach left the American Heart Association in late 1996 to co-found and lead a new nonprofit aimed at supporting homeless and runaway youth. Under her leadership, HomeBase Youth Services grew into a nationally-accredited full continuum of care serving thousands of Arizona’s homeless and runway youth. In 2007, Leach returned to the American Heart Association and a project close to her heart — the Halle Heart Center.

Leach joins the Valley of the Sun YMCA at a pivotal point in the organization’s long history in Arizona. As the Y celebrates its 120th anniversary this year. She will oversee development and fundraising.
