Lucas Selby is on his way to attaining the rank of Eagle in the Boy Scouts of America. There are many requirements in getting this Eagle rank, one of which is leading a service project in the community. Selby chose the town of Guadalupe for the community he wanted to affect.

His project included overseeing more than 50 scouts and townspeople in painting over graffiti on walls along Avenida del Yaqui, the main street of Guadalupe. The Scouts then moved to the Mercado where they held a festival with the goal of introducing scouting to Guadalupe and aiding them in starting their own Scout troop.
