Sue Nicholson Foster passed away on Feb. 23, 2013. Born Nov. 9, 1929, Sue was a loving wife, devoted mother, wonderful grandmother, caring sister and precious friend. Graceful, elegant, and regal were words that described her always calming presence.

Sue loved her family and her life’s work was creating a loving atmosphere in the many places she and her husband of 65 years, Jerry, called home.

Sue embraced the military life and was the U.S. Air Force’s perfect ambassador. She gallantly accepted the challenges imposed on career military families as the couple was stationed overseas for seven years. Sue traveled all over the world and loved every minute.

Jerry, a retired pilot in the Air Force, daughter Susan, son-in-law Norm, grandchildren Joe and Katy were the focus of her life.

The last 35 years, Sue and Jerry lived in the Valley to be close to their daughter and grandchildren. They were active, caring grandparents. Sue and Jerry played tennis together winning doubles tournaments. They could also be found on the golf course with grandson Joe, and Sue could gracefully beat him on their local course in Ahwatukee.

Sue’s beautiful smile was contagious, but she had a competitive side. Sue loved to play bridge. Her beauty was both inside and out.

Sue will be greatly missed by all. A private family service has been scheduled.
