The Volunteer Nonprofit Service Association, Inc. (VNSA) announced the total amount of money raised from its 57th Annual Used Book Sale Feb. 16-17 was approximately $390,000. The VNSA is an all-volunteer organization. Entire proceeds of the book sale are donated to Valley human service agencies.

One charity that will benefit is Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation (AFFCF), an organization to promote the self-esteem, and enrich the lives of Arizona’s children. AFFCF funds activities, education and other opportunities that provide children with quality experiences while they live in difficult circumstances. Arizona has approximately 14,000 children in foster care.

The other charity to benefit is Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County (LVMC), which teaches individuals 16 and older to read and speak English or prepare for their General Educational Diploma (GED). The LVMC has Family Literacy programs, Workplace Education programs, operates two learning centers in Phoenix, and offers one-on-one tutoring countywide.

For more information on the VNSA Used Book Sale, visit www.vnsabooksale.org or call (602) 265-6805. To ensure your donation is being given to VNSA, note VNSA drop boxes all have signage featuring the VNSA owl, drawn by local artist Bil Keane.
