Jasmin Schmitz, a senior at Mountain Pointe High School, was nominated to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine (NYLF) at UCLA in Los Angeles last month. Schmitz has always been a very inquisitive student with great interest in the field of science and medicine and was truly excited about the nomination to participate in this selective 10-day program.

NYLF is a nonpartisan, educational organization founded specifically to prepare the nation’s highest-achieving secondary school students, who have been specially selected based on scholastic merit and strong leadership potential for their future professional careers.

Schmitz had a fantastic time and gained quite a bit of insight and hands-on experience into the world of medicine. It only strengthened her desire to work towards her goal to become a physician.
