On Nov. 6, St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance distributed some of the more than 2,200 holiday food boxes earmarked for needy families of Arizona's wounded, deployed and active soldiers to make sure our nation's heroes will have all the trimmings for a traditional holiday meal, as well as extra food to fill their pantries.
The "Turkeys for Troops" program included turkey gift cards donated by the University of Phoenix, Arizona Heroes to Hometowns and other organizations. Each family arriving at the 52nd Armory also received a St. Mary's Holiday Food Box filled with canned pantry items, produce, breads, pastries and all the trimmings necessary for a traditional holiday meal.
