Victoria Janacek, a Mountain Pointe High School senior, has won the “Design Our Festival T-shirt” contest, sponsored by the Arts Council for Youth. Her design was featured on this year’s Kyrene Music Festival and Arts Jam T-shirts and is now being worn all over the Ahwatukee, Chandler and Tempe area.

Janacek began as a band kid in the sixth grade at Kyrene Centennial Middle School and nowadays plays flute in the Mountain Pointe Wind Ensemble. This year, she is also the Mountain Pointe drum major. While she still loves music, Janacek plans on continuing her graphic arts studies when she attends Arizona State University in the fall.

The Arts Council for Youth is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that supports arts and arts education in the Kyrene and Tempe Union school districts. The group believes that arts are vital to people of all ages and a powerful tool for educating for a brighter future.

For more information, visit www.artsjam.org, contact Janacek at (602) 432-9190 or email info@artsjam.org.
