As they have done for the past several years, Girl Scouts in Troop 612 and Troop 1145 are selling cookies to be sent to American troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and other remote areas of the world.

Cookies collected by the girls will be shipped directly to soldiers overseas. The girls are asking anyone who has a friend or loved one who will be deployed and are overseas in March and April of this year, to contact Kay Moroz at (480) 460-7870 or kaymoroz@q.com. Information needed is their name, rank information and their APO box address so that cookies can be sent to them upon arrival. The girls will send thank you notes and other treats, along with the cookies to the soldiers.

Last year, the girls sent 1,200 boxes of cookies to 25 deserving soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was truly special when one soldier decided to thank them in person. He presented the girls with a flag flown over their base, along with a certificate of thanks. It is amazing how much a gift of cookies touches their hearts, troop leaders said.
