Rachel’s Challenge has been brought to life on the walls of the Ahwatukee Foothills Family YMCA Teen Center. The challenge was conceptualized by the family of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine School shooting in 1999. It encourages youth of all ages to participate in a chain reaction of kindness, which will spread throughout the world.

Joseph Money, a freshman at Desert Vista High School, along with Sandy Marshall, the consulting artist, created this mural for Money’s Eagle Scout Project. Dozens of Kyrene Altadeña Middle School and Desert Vista students participated in the project along with numerous children who are members of the YMCA. The project was intended to promote unity and acts of kindness in the Ahwatukee community.
