Stand for Children Arizona is proud to announce that education leader and advocate Rebecca Gau has joined the organization as executive director.

As executive director, Rebecca will guide day-to-day operations of Stand for Children Arizona and lead the organization’s policy direction, fundraising and other efforts to further the mission of ensuring all children graduate from high school prepared for, and with access to, a college education.

Prior to joining Stand for Children, Rebecca led the Governor’s Office of Education Innovation - serving as its director and helping guide Gov. Jan Brewer’s Education Reform Plan, better known as “Arizona Ready.” In this role, Rebecca coordinated the implementation of Arizona Ready with stakeholders across the education, business and political spectrum, including the Arizona Department of Education, Arizona State Board of Education, Arizona Board of Regents, county superintendents, local school districts, parents, teachers and philanthropic leaders.

Rebecca’s background in education policy, data and advocacy is extensive. She was vice president of the Arizona Charter Schools Association, her research has been published in a host of education journals, and she has served on state committees that include the Teacher and Principal Evaluation Task Force and Statewide Longitudinal Data System Task Force. Rebecca received her master’s in public policy from Duke University.
