A St. John Bosco Catholic School teacher has been selected Teacher of the Year by the Arizona Council for American Private Education (AZCAPE) and the Arizona private school community. More than 200 private school leaders of distinction were nominated for the second Arizona Private School Education Excellence Awards.

St. John Bosco teacher, Tina Larsen, was one of five finalists and was then selected as the overall winner. She was presented with the award at a banquet on Oct. 22 at the Goldwater Institute. Larsen teaches third grade and has been with St. John Bosco in Ahwatukee for seven years.

Larsen has a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, and a master’s degree in education. She originally earned her teaching credentials from the state of California and is currently certified to teach primary education in Arizona. Larsen holds an endorsement in Structured English Immersion and is a certified Catechist with the Diocese of Phoenix. She attends seminars and courses throughout the school year to enhance her teaching skills and faith development.
