Dr. Douglas Bobb and his practice, Sun Valley Hand Surgery, were sponsors for the Boy Scouts of America Grand Canyon Council Eagle recognition dinner that took place recently in Phoenix.

The award of Eagle Scout is the highest award given by the Boy Scouts of America and requires an extensive demonstration of service, education, and leadership. The effort required to achieve this award is remarkable, and once achieved, Eagle Scouts take pride in maintaining that title throughout their adult lives.

Achieving the rank of Eagle is performance based and scouts must progress through a series of ranks, earn at least 21 merit badges and complete a major service project. The Eagle Scouts joined Bobb at the recognition dinner and directed leadership projects, which included organizing a major renovation to a local Boys and Girls Club, creating and leading an environmental project to clean up an area surrounding Bartlett Lake, and organizing a large scale effort to send packages to our troops.

Bobb earned his Eagle Scout Award while growing up in Michigan. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the scout oath and law, which includes being “trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”
