Betsi Metter began her season with Loyola Marymount University on Aug. 24, as the LMU Lions faced Connecticut in its first regular-season game.

Metter, a former standout for Desert Vista High School, is a junior at defensive specialist for the Lions, who compete in the West Coast Conference.

LMU is kicking off the season by hosting the DoubleTree Los Angeles Westside Invitational, featuring UConn, UC Santa Barbara and Iona College. The Lions will take to the court under the direction of head coach Tom Black, now in his third season leading the team.
