As the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) prepares to unveil the exhibition Bridges: Spanning the Ideas of Paolo Soleri in tandem with the construction of the Soleri Bridge and Plaza at the Scottsdale Waterfront, a related exhibition featuring Summit School of Ahwatukee children's work in art, design and architecture titled Bridges: Connecting Earth to Sky will make its debut. The exhibit will be in the young@art gallery and will showcase the creative works of Summit's preschool through sixth-grade art students.

For this exhibition, SMoCA's Education Department, which curates and manages the young@art gallery, has collaborated with the award-winning Vitruvius Program - a unique design and architecture program for preschool through middle school that serves as the art curriculum of the Summit School of Ahwatukee.

Community members are invited to the opening reception of this exhibit from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at 7380 E. Second St. (inside the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts). The event is free and open to the public and includes complimentary access to the opening exhibits and festivities happening concurrently at SMoCA.

The exhibit will be on display until Jan. 17, 2011.
