Judging from the response to a recent community shredding and electronic recycling event, the Ahwatukee Foothills community cares about the environment and responsible recycling.

The Parish of St. Benedict and its Environmental Stewardship Committee hosted a shredding and electronic recycling event for the entire community in partnership with Shred-it and Westech Recyclers on June 4. The parish plans to work with its partners to schedule another event for 2012.

More than $900 was collected to support Connecting-to-Serve, www.connectingtoserve.org, an Ahwatukee-based non-profit organization whose mission is

to identify, connect and mobilize passionate, skilled individuals and organizations to deliver practical solutions to health, education, finances and housing needs in the community.
