A closet full of beautiful boots and gravity-defying heels, flat-foot, furry Uggs weren't at the top of celebrity stylist-designer Rachel Zoes shopping list. But"Once you put them on, you can't go back," Zoe says. "In my house, it's now the family at-home shoe. I wear them all the time. My son has 10 pairs and my husband has 10 pairs." (AP Photo/Ugg)

Valley Christian High School students have been spending the last few months collecting items to give back to the community.

Valley Christian students went barefoot one day as they took the shoes off their feet and donated them to give to homeless Phoenix youth. In a partnership with the Tumbleweed Center for Youth, students, faculty and staff donated 464 pairs of shoes that went directly to homeless youth in the Phoenix-metro area.

The NHS students at Valley Christian sponsored an Operation Christmas Child drive in November in conjunction with Samaritan’s Purse International. Students filled shoeboxes full of school supplies, toys, hygiene items and personal notes to be given to children. A total of 103 boxes were filled to be sent out around the world for Christmas.

In addition to these two projects, students and staff from Valley Christian donated dozens of toys to give to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Drive. The toys will be distributed as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in our community.
