Desert Vista High School’s Wind Ensemble is doing its part to live up to the school’s mission of inspiring a community of learning by demonstrating excellence in arts.

The Wind Ensemble was named winner of the Fulton Homes “Noon Salute” program for Oct. 26-Nov. 2

Each week during the school year, Fulton Homes and KOOL FM recognize outstanding performances by area high school bands by airing a performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” at noon.

At the end of each month, one of the bands is selected to receive a $1,000 donation from Fulton Homes. The program is designed to recognize high school musicians and their hard work and dedication to their musical studies, as well as the teachers who develop their talents.

Led by band director Josh Thye, the wind ensemble played at the Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis in March, joining groups from 23 other schools across the country.

The ensemble was the sole school representing Arizona at the festival.
