Terry Shannon, president and chief executive officer of St. Mary's Food Bank, recently accepted a check in the amount of $640.57 from Ian-Thomas Boyle, an eighth-grade student from St. John Bosco Catholic School in Ahwatukee.

According to St. Mary's Food Bank, every dollar donated provides a meal for seven people. Through the efforts of the St. John Bosco Dads' Club, the donation will help provide meals for 4400 men, women, and children who depend on St. Mary's Food Bank for their meals. In addition to the donation, several crates of canned goods were delivered to the food bank. The Dads' Club sponsored a poker tournament with the proceeds benefitting St. Mary's Food Bank.

St. Mary's Food Bank was the first food bank established in the United States and is the longest running food bank in America.
