The Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) honored Joel Sideman with the Regents’ Award for Outstanding Service to Higher Education at a dinner reception that took place recently.

The award was established in 1996 to provide special recognition for Arizona citizens and/or organizations that provide exceptional service to higher education in Arizona.

For more than 22 years, Joel Sideman dedicated his career to higher education and the Arizona Board of Regents.

Under his leadership, the Board of Regents achieved important milestones for higher education that continue to return invaluable outcomes for the state. Sideman was a highly regarded leader who ensured a strong relationship between the board and the Governor’s office, legislative staff, the universities and community constituencies.

Sideman’s leadership and counsel ensured continuity to the board through an ever-changing roster of Regents and kept the board on course to achieve critical outcomes for higher education.

This year’s honorees also included James and Jo-Ann Armstrong, William A. Franke and Norman and Frances McClelland.
