Larry Volkmar has joined Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS as interim executive director. He is expected to remain in this position until such time a permanent executive director can be identified. Until recently, Volkmar served as CEO of Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, a position he’s had since the summer of 2007.

Prior to Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, Volkmar was the CEO of Mount Sinai Medical Center in Chicago, COO at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick, MA and was a Senior Manager at Arthur Anderson. He has also held a number of other executive leadership positions in health care organizations. 

Volkmar, a registered nurse, has an undergraduate degree in nursing from St. Louis University and a graduate degree in business administration from St. Ambrose University. Volkmar is a native of Greenville, Ill., and the father of two adult children.
