Grand opening of Kyrene Family Resource Center

Debbie Pettas and Yvonne Crudup (center and right) talk to a parent Wednesday who attended a grand opening for the Kyrene Resource Center, located next to Kyrene de los Niños. The center offers clothing and other necessities for families in need.

The Kyrene Family Resource Center supports students in need at all 25 schools in the Kyrene School District. In just one month, Feb. 1-28, the Resource Center distributed 114 food boxes serving 502 individuals.

Food bags follow pantry guidelines and are designed to feed a family of four for one week. Families are able to visit the Resource Center once per month, receiving one food bag.

The Resource Center is currently low or out of many food items. Please consider donating needed food items or holding a food drive for Kyrene students.

Donations can be dropped off at the Kyrene Family Resource Center, 1330 E. Dava Drive in Tempe. If you can host a donation drive, email Amanda Nosbisch at or call the Resource Center at (480)541-4772.

Donation needed are: rice and dry beans, peanut butter and jelly, hearty soups, canned meat (tuna, chicken, etc.), and cereal.
