A small lemonade stand to help with the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts turned into a wonderful project thanks to the outpouring of support from the Ahwatukee Foothills community.

It started with Collin Bridge, a second-grader at Kyrene de la Sierra Elementary School; Annika Bridge, a fourth-grader also from Sierra; and Jack Walton, a sixth-grader at Kyrene Altadeña Middle School, decided to do something to help the East Coast and decided to host lemonade stand on Nov. 10. Collection boxes for donations were placed at Ahwatukee Children’s Theatre and Foothills Family Chiropractic. Magic Journey Preschool organized a coin drive for the lemonade stand and collected $155 in coins. Jack Walton’s mom, Lisa, set up a Facebook page for the lemonade stand with a PayPal account so people could attend the lemonade stand virtually, https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/5Nkp1?psid=9e7db9809deb48a3a76ade0baf822107.

On the day of the event, even though it was cold outside, tons of kids showed up to help hold signs and contribute back goods and money. People drove from all over the Valley to attend. Currently, we are at around $900 in donations but money to the PayPal account is still coming in.
